Marchak Paris Rock Crystal and Diamond Brooch

Item#: RC108

This rock crystal and diamond brooch from Marchak Paris defines Art Deco. Rock crystal became a favorite stone for jewelry following the discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb in Egypt in 1922. The tomb was filled with pieces of rock crystal jewelry, sparking a desire to create with this material used in ancient times. The geometric design and white-on-white color palette are definitive of the era, and Marchak was one of the most prominent French jewelry makers of the time. Alexander Marchak briefly collaborated with designer Robert Linzeler.  Pieces created by the duo, such as this brooch, are very rare.
