5 Romantic Valentine’s Day Proposals
By Amber Michelle – Chief Curator & Storyteller

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so why not make the most romantic day of the year even more memorable with a proposal? Remember that Valentine’s Day is a really busy day, everyone is going to be out and about with their sweetie. So, make sure that you have all of your plans in order well before the big day. Since Valentine’s Day is one of the most popular 24 hours for proposals you will want to come up with some ways to make it a surprise. You may help to get friends and family involved to make the day seem like any other. Whatever you decide to do, make sure that you are ready to create an Instagram moment.

Very Special Chocolate

Make a romantic day more so with a sweet proposal. Give your honey a box of chocolates. Replace one of the chocolates with a diamond engagement ring. When the candy box is opened it’s your cue to ask the question.

Chef’s Special

As an alternative to going out to dinner — cook for your honey, or have dinner catered. Set a beautiful table — complete with a tablecloth, nice china and silverware. Or be more casual — roast hotdogs (tofurkey for vegetarians) and toast marshmallows while curled up in front of the fireplace. Either way you are creating a more intimate moment for the two of you that will be remembered forever. Once you are both comfortable and relaxed present a diamond engagement ring and propose. A note of caution: be careful about putting the ring in food, you don’t want to ruin the moment by having to rush to the dentist because your sweetie bites into the ring.

Say it with Flowers

Give your sweetheart a red rose with a little something extra. Tuck a ring in the heart of the rose where your honey is sure to see it. Hand her the rose, then make your proposal. If you prefer you can use a bouquet of flowers rather than a single rose. Just make sure that the ring box is well attached to the bouquet so that it does not get lost or tossed into a vase of water with the flowers.

Champagne and Chocolate Party

If you are a very social couple who likes a lot of action invite family and friends to a Valentine’s Day gathering at your home. You can make it a champagne and chocolate party to be in the spirit of the day. When the party really gets rolling, clink on your drink glass for silence and then make a very public proposal. Have someone ready to take pictures to post on Instagram.

Noncompete

Perhaps you like the idea of proposing on Valentine’s Day, but you don’t want to compete with everything else that is going on that day. Do the unexpected and propose the day before. Then on Valentine’s Day your sweetheart will be showing off the diamond engagement ring to everyone. Contrary to popular belief, 13 is a lucky number in many cultures. In Italy, for example, 13 is considered lucky, the phrase “Fare Tredici” translates to “hit the jackpot”. Exactly what you’ll be doing when your honey says yes to “will you marry me?”
